Why exact sample counts matter
Seamless loops need to end on an exact sample boundary — a loop that's even a few samples long or short drifts audibly after a couple of repeats. When you trim a loop by hand, type the sample count from this table into your editor instead of dragging by eye. The same numbers tell you precisely how much audio a sampler needs for one bar, or how far to nudge a clip to land on the grid.
The math
One beat = 60 ÷ BPM seconds. Multiply by beats-per-bar for a bar, then by the sample rate for the sample count. Fractional samples are shown rounded — when a length doesn't divide evenly, your DAW is silently rounding too, which is exactly why long loops drift at "odd" tempos.
